Reader, dad, D&D DM, and person who will always pick up the next book in a series before doing something responsible.

I'm a lifelong reader with a soft spot for sprawling fantasy worlds, thoughtful science fiction, and theology that wrestles honestly with big questions. I have a habit of getting pulled into epic series and refusing to come up for air until I've finished them or at least caught up.
My love for long fantasy series started early. Deltora Quest was my favorite book series as a kid, and I credit it with teaching me the joy of staying in a story for the long haul. Bibliophilo is my way of slowing down, reflecting on what I read, and sharing books that are worth lingering over.
Outside of reading, you'll usually find me playing Magic: The Gathering or running a Dungeons & Dragons session with friends. Storytelling, worldbuilding, and shared imagination are kind of my thing. I'm also a dad of two, and one of my greatest joys is sharing the books, stories, and games I love with them and watching those worlds come alive through their eyes.

Not stars. Mugs.
How I rate things
You won't find star ratings here. I thought about doing the standard five, but after years of scrolling past a row of filled-in stars without actually reading the number, I decided to build something that'd make me, and you, look twice.
Every review gets a score out of 6 mugs instead of stars, a nod to the mug on the homepage, since most of my best reading happens with one in hand. Six instead of the usual five or ten is on purpose.

What the book did to me
The mug score is how good I thought it was. The compulsion tag is what it actually did. Every review gets one of these:
- Finished It
- Did the job, no regrets, no urgency.
- Read Past Bedtime
- Lost track of time.
- Cancelled Plans For It
- Reorganized my day around it.
- Bought The Sequel Immediately
- Didn't want to leave.
- Told A Stranger About It Unprompted
- Full evangelist mode. Ask anyone unlucky enough to be nearby when I finish a good one.
They don't always match. That's kind of the point.
